3. Activity: Writing-to-learn (revisited)

• Visit National Geographic for Kids online together (read, view, listen, write/take notes) http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/animals/creaturefeature/
• Create a cinquain poem together– http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinquain 
• Grab a kid-friendly science/nature informational magazine and choose an animal
• Write your own cinquain to share with the class

Metacognitive and Design-thinking Questions–

1. What was this entire process like for you as a learner? What did you learn about yourself?
2. What teaching opportunity can you identify in this activity as a specific skill to hone in on?
